Doing Away With The "N" Word

Cracker, Nigger, Kike, Slope, Redneck, Nip, Zip, Wop, Wetback, Beaner, Mooly, and Chink are just a few of the racial slurs and insults which have inundated American society.  None of this is new. It’s been going on since before we were a nation.

Since Paula Deen and her brother showed their true colors and it was revealed that Trayvon Martin referred to George Zimmerman as a “Creepy Ass Cracker,” folks have been behaving as if they are shocked, stunned and appalled.

 

What’s the truth?  Every single one of us can probably rattle off another dozen or so insults and slurs this bad or worse.  None of us are truly shocked and all of us are still insulted.

In a recent CNN broadcast, an elite panel queried whether we should do away with the “N” word or not. 

About that I have this to say:  It will never go anywhere as long as we (African Americans) insist on using it.  And if we use it, it is absolutely stupid to think other races won’t use it too.

Our parents, grandparents and great grandparents all fought to hold their heads up as men and women.  They had dignity and pride and desired something better for their children than they had for themselves. 

Today, many of the African-American youth have no appreciation for the struggles and sacrifices of generations of their ancestors.  Our sons walk around with their pants hanging off their butts and our daughters degrade themselves by pole dancing, “twerking” and calling each other bitches.  They refuse to stand up and be the proud men and women they are supposed to be. 

Instead, many African-American youth buy into every new fad, new drug or other form of degradation. It’s time they recognize these things for what they really are.  They are distractions, obstacles and traps designed to cripple.

A torch is being passed Americans of African descent.  African-American voting rights, achieved half a century ago, are being forfeited. Rather than discussing real issues, panels are being formed to discuss an insult African Americans have kept alive.

Wake Up Black America and quit calling yourself Nigger!
